South Carolina Education Lottery Claims Centers

After purchasing tickets, please sign the back of the ticket legibly.

Visit one of our Claims Centers to redeem your winnings. Claims Centers are open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Except State Holidays listed below.) Players should arrive by 4:00 p.m. to allow time to verify the winning ticket.

Prizes up to and including $500 may be redeemed at any lottery retailer. All prizes of $100,000 or less can be redeemed by mail or at one of our regional offices, located in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston. Winnings over $100,000 up to $1.5 million must be claimed in person at one of our Claims Centers. Winnings greater than $1.5 million must be redeemed in person at the Columbia Claims Center only.

(Registered mail recommended) To redeem prizes greater than $500, winners must include: (1) a signed winning ticket(s), (2) a completed claim form, and (3) a copy of a picture identification card (state I.D., driver’s license, or military I.D.).

LEGAL HOLIDAYS IN S.C.

Under the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, Sections 53‑5‑10, 53‑5‑20, 53‑5‑30, and 53‑3‑80, the following days are prescribed, and all State offices are closed thereon:

January 1—New Year
Third Monday in January—Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday
Third Monday in February—Washington’s Birthday/Presidents’ Day
May 11—Confederate Memorial Day
Last Monday in May—National Memorial Day
July 4—Independence Day (Observed on Friday, July 3)
First Monday in September—Labor Day
November 11—Veterans Day (date changed from the fourth Monday in October by Act No. 290, 1973)
National Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after
December 24—Governor is empowered to declare
December 25—Christmas Day (NOTE: Midday drawings are not held.)
December 28—The Day after Christmas (Observed on Monday, December 28)

Whenever any of these fall on Sunday, the Monday following is prescribed, and whenever any of these fall on Saturday, the preceding Friday is prescribed.

DATES TICKETS CANNOT BE SOLD OR VALIDATED
The S.C. Lottery Act restricts lottery sales on primary and general election days. General elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November in each even‑numbered year. State primaries are conducted on the second Tuesday in June of each general election year. (S.C. Code §§ 7‑13‑10, 7‑13‑15, and 59‑150‑210(E)) The Claims Centers will be open for business and will accept winning tickets, but they will not be processing any claim through the system. A check will be mailed to the winners presented on a statewide election day.

All winning tickets must be validated by the SCEL before prizes will be paid. You must be 18 years of age or older to play the games of the South Carolina Education Lottery.
