COLUMBIA, SC (July 16, 2013) – Fans of marine wildlife artist and conservationist Guy Harvey can now catch his work on instant tickets from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The artist’s colorful brushstrokes bring to life South Carolina’s native red drum fish, sailfish, dolphin fish, and loggerhead sea turtle, our official reptile, in the series of four collector tickets.
Players will get their first look at the Guy Harvey game when tickets go on sale today at lottery retailers statewide.
Guy Harvey, with a top prize of $100,000, offers a second-chance opportunity to win a fishing trip with Guy Harvey in Grand Cayman Island and a vacation to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Tickets are $5.
While many know Harvey from his fish and wildlife-focused art, his love of the ocean and its diverse inhabitants is what drives him. Harvey is generously donating proceeds received from the game to state conservation groups to fund education and marine conservation efforts here in South Carolina.
“We strongly believe that it’s important to teach and educate the public to be responsible stewards of our marine environments,” said Dr. Harvey. “Investing our South Carolina Education Lottery funds back into conservation and education programs will allow us to build on our existing work in the state and to support some new programs around the Palmetto State.”
The Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina is one of the many agencies Harvey’s funding will assist. Its Executive Director Scott Whitaker couldn’t be happier Harvey has set his sights on South Carolina.
“South Carolina has been blessed not only with an envied variety of marine resources, but also with people who are passionate about taking care of those resources,” said Whitaker. “Having a leader like Guy Harvey enthusiastically support our state’s marine conservation and management efforts is tremendously beneficial and we are honored to be a part of this program.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Guy Harvey and can’t thank him enough for sharing his talents and passion with the Education Lottery and our state,” said Bethea. “Preserving our coastal estuaries for future generations to enjoy both sport and commercial fishing is something we can all appreciate.”
