Dueling Jackpots at Over $100 MILLION!

COLUMBIA, SC (September 10, 2013) – With back-to-back jackpot drawings at over $100 million, lottery players have plenty to be excited about this week. Tonight South Carolinians can play for a chance at a $106 MILLION Mega Millions® jackpot and tomorrow night try for the $245 MILLION Powerball® top prize.

“Jackpots of $100 million plus are exciting for our players and those buying tickets for the first time,” said the Lottery’s Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. “While we hope the jackpot run will end in South Carolina, we urge all of our players to please, above all else, play responsibly.”

The odds of winning either jackpot are long, about 1 in 176 million.

The $106 million Mega Millions® jackpot boasts a cash value of $71 million. Tickets must be purchased by 10 tonight for the 11o’clock Mega Millions® drawing. Tickets are $1. South Carolina has yet to produce a Mega Millions® jackpot winner.

The winner of Powerball’s® $245 million jackpot can elect a cash option of $136 million. Tickets must be purchased by 9:59 on Wednesday night for the 10:59 drawing. Powerball tickets are $2. South Carolina has had six Powerball® jackpot winners.
