COLUMBIA, SC (November 4, 2016) – A Florence lottery winner might wait until Christmas to tell the kids about his $100,000 Powerball® win.
Waiting shouldn’t be a problem. He held onto his winning ticket for nearly a month before the “right day” came along to collect the prize.
And that day was yesterday. He dusted off the ticket lying on his dresser and drove to Columbia.
The Powerball® ticket matched four of the first five white numbers and the red Powerball® number drawn on Wednesday, October 5 (8, 18, 27, 29, 60 and Powerball® 15). Spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay®, doubled the winner’s prize to $100,000.
“I might buy a car,” he said, but admits he’s in no rush to do so.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.79, when the jackpot is $150 million or less.
For selling the claimed ticket, Maxwell Street Grocery Inc. in Florence received a commission of $1,000.
The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s Powerball® drawing is $217 million.
