COLUMBIA, SC (November 14, 2017) – After playing the same number combination for the last seven years, a Midlands resident takes home $2 million after matching the five white ball numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball® drawing.

The winning numbers were a combination of birthdays and anniversaries.

The winner, who asked to not be identified, usually picks up a Powerball® ticket when going out of town to make their vacation even more exciting.

On Monday morning, the winner learned they had won $2 million! Not wanting to count their chickens before they hatched, the winner remained calm until arriving at the Lottery’s Columbia Claims Center where lottery officials confirmed the win. “Fantastic,” the millionaire exclaimed!

The prized ticket was purchased at the Sunco located at 1083 Broad St. in Sumter.

“I’m not going to do anything crazy,” said the winner. “I don’t have my eyes on a new Camaro or anything. I plan to purchase a house and live without worrying about a mortgage.”

The winning ticket matched the first five numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball® drawing which were 4, 6, 16, 30, and 56. The Powerball was 18. Since the winner purchased PowerPlay® for an additional $1, their winnings of $1 million were multiplied to $2 million!

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.79 when the estimated jackpot is $150 million or less.

For selling the claimed ticket, Sunco in Sumter received a commission of $20,000.

The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night’s Powerball® drawing is $103 million.
