Upstate Powerball® Winner Ordering a Fat Steak
2/22/2018 9:05:35 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (February 22, 2018) – Steak—it’s what’s for dinner for a Travelers Rest $150,000 Powerball® winner.

“I’m ordering a fat steak,” he said.

And he’s inviting his father to join him at the table. For years, the two fellows have been buying Powerball® tickets and dreaming about what they would do if they ever won. It was the son’s ticket that turned up lucky first.

“Winning brightens the day,” he said.

“But one more number, and I would have been doing cartwheels,” he said of his near brush with a multi-million dollar jackpot.

His ticket matched four of the first five white ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball® number on Saturday, February 17 (13, 26, 39, 44, 62 and Powerball®: 2) to win $50,000. As a result of paying an extra dollar for PowerPlay®, his winnings jumped to $150,000 when a “3” was drawn.

And dad’s not a bit jealous it wasn’t him that won.

“I’m getting a free dinner out of it,” the father said.

The odds of winning $50,000 playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129. Purchasing PowerPlay® multiplied the $50,000 prize to $150,000. The odds of a 3X multiplier being selected are 1 in 3.23, when the jackpot is over $150 million.

For selling the claimed ticket, 7-Eleven in Greenville received a commission of $1,500.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball® drawing is $269 million.
