COLUMBIA, SC (February 23, 2018) – On Valentine’s Day an Elgin husband ran into the Food Lion on Main St. for flowers and a card for his wife and bought himself a lottery ticket.

His wife loved her gift.

But his Palmetto Cash 5 lottery ticket stole the evening.

He won $200,000.

“My wife didn’t believe me,” he said.

“He’s such a jokester,” she said, seated next to her husband at the Lottery’s Columbia Claims Center this week waiting on a check for their winnings.

So how will he top this Valentine’s Day?

Maybe by spending the next one at their soon-to-be-purchased beach home.

“We’ve always wanted that,” the wife said.

The winning numbers on Wednesday, February 14, were 6, 8, 20, 26, and 31. Because he spent the extra $1 for Power-Up, his $100,000 prize increased to $200,000 when a 2x multiplier was drawn.

The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, Food Lion #2629 in Elgin received a commission of $2,000.
