Lottery Names Hogan Brown as the New Executive Director
5/15/2018 11:30:08 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (May 15, 2018) – The South Carolina Education Lottery Commission has removed “Interim” from Hogan Brown’s title making him the permanent Executive Director. The move was made at a meeting of the Commission on Tuesday morning.

Brown was named Interim Executive Director on November 1, 2016 when long-time Executive Director, Paula Bethea, stepped down after serving for 7 1/2 years. He had been the Lottery’s Director of Legal Services since 2001 where he was a key player in the launch of the Lottery.

Commission Chairman, Sam Litchfield, cited Brown’s performance since assuming the interim role as the primary reason for his elevation. “Hogan has lead the Lottery through some challenging times including the complicated procurement process for a new 10-year contract for the Lottery’s online gaming services. He also led the Lottery through the transition process of replacing all of the more than 3,800 terminals in retail locations that was recently completed,” noted Litchfield.

During Brown’s tenure as Interim Director, Lottery revenue has continued to increase while expenses have decreased. This has resulted in increased funds available for Lottery scholarships.
