COLUMBIA, SC (September 30, 2020) – Viewers tuning into tonight’s televised Powerball® drawing to find out what lucky numbers could win a $34 million jackpot, will notice a few changes. The televised drawing has undergone a makeover, but the Powerball® game itself remains the same.
Powerball® has announced new ball machines, new ball sets and other production enhancements debuting tonight at 10:59 p.m. Curious South Carolinians can watch the live Powerball® drawing on their local, lottery draw partner station:

WLTX, CBS in Columbia;
WHNS, FOX in Greenville/Spartanburg;
WRDW, CBS in Aiken/Augusta;
WMBF, NBC in Florence/Myrtle Beach;
WMYT, NMT in Rock Hill; and
WHHI in Hilton Head.
In a statement, Powerball® said that throughout the game’s 28-year history the draw machines and balls sets have been replaced as industry standards for drawing equipment has evolved. The new drawing machines are ungraded version of the gravity-driven machines that are currently used in the Powerball® drawing. The ball sets will transition from hard rubber balls to solid foam balls, the new industry standard for ball sets used in gravity-driven machines. Players can be assured that the new drawing equipment has undergone rigorous security screenings and certifications to ensure its integrity.
Powerball® tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are broadcast live every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. In South Carolina, net proceeds from the sale of Powerball® tickets support education.
