COLUMBIA, SC (May 10, 2021) – A record payout of more than $3.5 million was won by South Carolina Education Lottery Pick 3 plus FIREBALL players on Mother’s Day.
13,998 winning straight plays won with 4 – 4 – 4 in the Sunday, May 9 evening drawing. Depending on the price paid for the ticket, Pick 3 winners took home an additional $250 or $500 per play.
FIREBALL, a new game add on introduced by the Lottery last week, created even more wins!
An additional $92,070 was won on straight plays by players when the FIREBALL number “4” was selected. These winners with FIREBALL took home an additional $270 or $540 per play.
FIREBALL allows players to replace any one of the Pick 3 or Pick 4 winning numbers drawn with the FIREBALL number to create FIREBALL prizewinning combinations. FIREBALL prizes are in addition to any base game wins.
The previous record Pick 3 payout was set earlier this year when triple 8s were drawn on February 9, 2021.
Triple number combinations are by far the Lottery’s most popular played sequences, with Sunday’s evening drawing producing 37 times the number wins compared to the week prior.
This marks the fifteenth time 4 – 4 – 4 has been drawn by the Lottery and the first time “4” was drawn as the FIREBALL number. The last time 4 – 4 – 4 was seen was back in June of 2020.
