SC Lottery Filming its Next Commercial in Beaufort

COLUMBIA, SC (October 10, 2019) – The South Carolina Education Lottery is paying a visit to Beaufort.

The Lottery will be in the historic district on Monday, October 21 filming a new series of commercials slated to air the first of next year.

Beaufort was an easy choice for the Lottery. Who could resist its picturesque Palmettos, Spanish moss and southern charm already made famous on the big and small screen?

“I grew up in Beaufort, so I’m a little biased,” said Josh Whiteside, the South Carolina Education Lottery’s Director of Marketing.

“We were searching for a location that showcases all that is great about living in South Carolina, and it doesn’t get any more beautiful and authentic than my hometown,” Whiteside said.

The iconic Bay St. that was seen in the movies Forest Gump, The Big Chill and The Price of Tides will serve as backdrops for two lottery ads. Chernoff-Newman, a marketing firm, and Mad Monkey, a video production company, both based in Columbia are producing the ads. Two more supporting ads are being filmed in the Greenville area.

And while the South Carolina Education Lottery is keeping the storylines for its commercials under wraps for now, their debut in 2020 will mark the beginning of a yearlong, statewide, storytelling tour.

“We’ll be back in Beaufort,” Whiteside said. “Hearing from South Carolinians, your neighbors, and your friends is a conversation we are looking to have and share.”
