COLUMBIA, SC (July 29, 2019) – A Charleston man celebrated his financial independence this Fourth of July.

That morning, he checked his Powerball® ticket and discovered he’d won $2 million.

His ticket, purchased from The Spinx Company #352 on Ashley Phosphate Rd. in North Charleston, matched the first five numbers drawn on Wednesday, July 3 (40, 43, 45, 50, 61 and PB: 25).

“This is life changing,” he told lottery officials when he collected his prize money. “I’ve been smiling for three weeks.”

He admitted that he was thinking about quitting playing Powerball®, but was feeling kind of lucky when he bought the winning ticket.

“It’s crazy,” the millionaire said.

Spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay® increased his $1 million prize to $2 million.

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of a 3x multiplier being selected are 1 in 3.31 when the jackpot is $150 million or less.

For selling the claimed ticket, The Spinx Company #352 in North Charleston received a commission of $20,000.
