COLUMBIA, SC (October 15, 2020) – An Upstate lottery winner texted her friends when she won $250,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Her friends responded with messages of congratulations and disbelief.
“I was shocked,” the winner told lottery officials.
She says she picked out the winning $10 Wild Cash ticket at the Hot Spot #2010 on E. Henry St. in Spartanburg. She scratched off a quarter-of-a-million win at home and told her friends first and plans to celebrate with family.
“I’m going to take care of my family,” she said.
The Spartanburg player overcame odds of 1 in 780,000 to win $250,000 in the $10 Wild Cash game. Two top prizes remain in the game.
Hot Spot #2010 in Spartanburg received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.
