COLUMBIA, SC (March 21, 2024) – A lottery ticket that was left in a car for a couple of days, when scratched won a Midlands man $500,000.
“It was a surprise,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
He says he rode around with the ticket lying in the passenger seat for two days after buying it at The Country Peddler at 367 Wilson Rd. in Newbery before realizing it was worth half-a-million dollars. But he didn’t wait to cash in the winning ticket.
“I’m going to spend it wisely,” he said. “It will enhance my life.”
The win leaves four top prizes of $500,000 in 100X The Cash game at odds of 1 in 960,000.
The Country Peddler in Newberry received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
