COLUMBIA, SC (July 5, 2017) – A Eutawville woman didn’t have the joyous reaction you’d expect winning a quarter of a million dollars playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I felt sick,” she said.

The winner, who has asked to keep her identity private, was at work when she scratched off the $250,000 win on a Mega Cash ticket. She says she fought back nausea hoping no one at work would suspect she just won big.

“I’m going to let this settle,” she told lottery officials when she cashed in her winning ticket. “Then I’m taking a vacation to recover.”

Two top prizes of $250,000 remain in the $10 Mega Cash game, at odds of 1 in 660,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Stop in Holly Hill received a commission of $2,500.
