COLUMBIA, SC (April 30, 2018) – A Ridgeville couple won $125,000 on a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket they bought on their way home from vacation.
It was the husband’s idea to stop and buy the ticket for his wife. He told lottery officials he was searching for a “lucky” spot to exit when he pulled off the interstate at the Pilot Travel Center #338 on Hwy. 321 in Cayce.
“There have been a lot of winners in that area,” he said.
A smiling clerk greeted him at the counter, and he took that as a good sign when he picked out the winning Cash Doubler ticket.
“It was fate,” he said of the win.
For selling the claimed ticket, Pilot Travel Center #338 received a commission of $1,250.
Two top prizes of $125,000 remain in the $5 Cash Doubler game, at odds of 1 in 600,000.
