COLUMBIA, SC (December 10, 2015) – A recent University of South Carolina grad has banked some serious money for the future, winning a $100,000 lottery prize.

The Greer winner says he read an article online at work about a guy that won the Lottery, so on his way home he bought a ticket to test his luck.

“I had a feeling I’d win,” he admitted, but says six-figures caught him off guard.

“A friend told me that’s like 1 in 1 million, and I said, ‘No, it’s like 1 in 480,000,” he corrected.

Those were the odds printed on the back of his $5 Pure Gold scratch-off that won the game’s the last top prize.

The young man’s long range plans for the cash would make any parent proud.

“I’m saving it and putting it toward retirement,” he said.

For selling the claimed ticket, QuikTrip #1113 in Greer received a commission of $1,000 on top of a $10,000 commission they earned for selling a $1 million Mega Millions® ticket that was claimed by another customer on the same day as this win.
