Lottery Calls John’s Island Man with Winning News

3/24/2015 11:51:46 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (March 24, 2015) – A John’s Island man’s been expecting a call from the South Carolina Education Lottery.

Last Thursday his phone rang at work. It was the Education Lottery calling to say he’d won $10,000.

“My day just got a lot better,” he told co-workers when he hung up the phone.

He won the cash in the Lottery’s monthly Instant Replay Drawing when a non-winning $1 or $2 ticket he’d entered online was selected. Confident he was going to win, the morning of the drawing he told his boss he might have to leave work early to collect a prize.

“I believe in the power of positive thinking,” he explained to lottery officials, who noticed how calm he was when he got the news. “I knew I was going to win.”

Four other players won cash prizes and an additional 420 players won points redeemable for merchandise in the March 18 drawing.

The John’s Island winner has won points in prior drawings that he’s redeemed for cookware, sunglasses and a crockpot from the Lottery’s online prize store. His wife picked out some perfume and his dog got a collapsible bowl.

The Lottery’s next Instant Replay drawing is planned for April 22. A $100,000 cash drawing is planned for September 2015. The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.

And our optimist is expecting another call this Thursday when the Lottery draws for a $1 million winner in the $1,000,000 Fortune Second-Chance Drawing.
