COLUMBIA, SC (March 25, 2011) – This weekend could get interesting for South Carolina lottery players. The Mega Millions® jackpot stands at an estimated $312 million for tonight's drawing, and the Powerball® jackpots is an estimated $125 million for Saturday night.
"Having two jackpots advertised at more than $100 million for both games is rare and unbelievably exciting," said the Lottery's Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. "We want our players to have fun, and please remember to play responsibly."
Mega Millions® - $312 MILLION
The Mega Millions® jackpot is the second highest advertised since the Lottery began offering the game over a year ago. In January, the jackpot climbed to $380 million. Tonight's drawing touts the sixth largest jackpot in Mega Millions® history.
According to Bethea, ticket sales are brisk in South Carolina and across the nation. Tickets must be purchased by 10 p.m. tonight for the 11 p.m. Mega Millions® drawing. Tickets are $1 and are available at lottery retailers statewide.
Powerball® - $125 MILLION
Powerball® is also posting an impressive jackpot run. Tickets for Saturday's Powerball® drawing must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. for the 10:59 p.m. drawing.
