COLUMBIA, SC (November 26, 2008) – Standing inside Jimmy’s Mini Mart in West Columbia, a Lexington County woman’s tough week ended on a high note. In her hands, she held a winning Jingle Bills instant ticket worth $100,000!
The Lexington County woman, who wishes to keep her identity private, has no immediate plans for the winnings. She says she’s grateful for the winning experience.
“I’m just so proud,” the winner said. “And my family is proud for me.”
Since inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the year that ended June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
