Columbia, SC: On Wednesday, October 26, South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) officials were presented with a winning ticket from the $100 Million Cash Bonanza instant game. The $10 ticket was worth $1 million. The Orangeburg woman is the second person to present a winning instant ticket for this amount in the history of SCEL.
Rosa Crawford, 44, only purchased one ticket to win the top prize. She purchased her winning ticket at Quick Pantry at 8640 Old Stage Road in Holly Hill.
“I stopped in the store to get some motor oil and transmission fluid,” Crawford said. “I had $10 left, so I bought the ticket.”
Then Crawford drove around the block and took her girl friend to the post office.
“I told my friend Veronica, ‘I’m about to flip out,’” Crawford said as she scratched her instant ticket in her car.
"Why? You didn’t win anything,” said Veronica.
Crawford corrected her, “I know my eyesight isn’t that bad. I just won a million dollars!”
Crawford told lottery officials, both women began to scream and holler!
Rick Kumar is the owner of Quick Pantry. “This is wonderful,” said Kumar. “I have been waiting for something big to happen at my store. Now I hope to be the number one lottery retailer!”
Retailers who sell winning tickets redeemed for more than $50,000 receive a one percent selling bonus. The bonus is capped at $50,000. Kumar will get a check for $10,000.
SCEL launched the $100 Million Cash Bonanza game on July 26. More than $80 million in prizes remain in the game, including three top prizes of $1 million each.
