Rock Hill woman uses lottery money for education

Columbia, SC: Despite the cold weather one Rock Hill woman heating things up with the instant ticket, Red Hot Cash. That’s because the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) awarded her $1,000 for a winning ticket!

The lucky Rock Hill woman, who did not wish to be identified, has decided to use the money to pay for school!

The winning ticket was purchased from the Southern Convenience #126 at 815 Albright Road in Rock Hill.

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $225 million to the State Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation. The SCEL’s net proceeds pay for specific educational programs, including South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows scholarships; the National Guard Scholarship Program; Lottery Tuition Assistance for two-year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses; local libraries and gambling addiction services.
