Prize includes state and federal taxes
COLUMBIA, SC: It was by default Geraldine Floyd purchased the South Carolina Education Lottery’s $250,000 Taxes Paid instant ticket. That’s because the store she frequently shops at, Trading Post #1 in Lake View, ran out of Floyd’s favorite ticket, Bingo.
“I asked them for the number 25 ticket in the dispenser,” said Floyd. “I scratched the ticket and won $5.”
Floyd says she then turned around and purchased the $250,000 Taxes Paid game.
“I got down to the last number, and it was 29,” said Floyd. “I thought I won $250, so I put my glasses on and realized I won $250,000 taxes paid.”
Floyd says she then ran through the house with the ticket in her hand. She plans to share her prize money with her church and the community.
Floyd is married with six children.
