Lotterys three claim centers to receive big winner

1/5/2002 11:00:00 PM

Columbia, SC (January 6, 2002) – The largest winners in the South Carolina Education Lottery will report to the state’s three Redemption Centers – instead of a retail outlet -- to claim their prize.

Players who win more than $500 can report to a claim center – located in Greenville, Columbia and Charleston – to collect a check for their winnings. Winners will submit an official claim form and decide whether or not they’d like to be publicly acknowledged.

All lottery prize winners have the option of mailing in a claim form --- retrievable from the website (www.sceducationlottery.com) or a licensed retail outlet -- to receive their winnings.

On Monday, when the Education Lottery launches, the Redemption Centers will also host additional activities in which players can win lottery giveaway items. Tickets will not be sold at the Redemption Centers, but players may bring in their non-winning lottery ticket for a chance to win giveaway items in a “second-chance drawing” and by spinning a prize wheel.

The Redemption Centers, which will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., are located at:
18 Augusta Road, Greenville
537 Long Point Road, Charleston
1901 Main Street, Columbia (inside the Bank of America Plaza)

The three Redemption Centers are authorized to award prize earnings of $1 or more.

The lottery officially launches on Monday at 6 a.m. Four scratch games initially will be introduced: Scenic South Carolina, the Lottery Logo Game, Carolina Riches and 3 Times Lucky. Odds of winning are approximately one in five.
