AMERICA’S GAME IS NEW AND IMPROVED!

8/5/2005 12:00:00 AM

Powerball® jackpots will roll in larger increments and Match 5 winners could win up to $1 Million.

Columbia, SC (August 3, 2005): Powerball® is getting an extreme make-over and players will reap the benefits! After the 11 p.m. drawing on Saturday, August 27, Powerball® players will have bigger prizes to win and additional draws to play. Since South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) joined the multi-state game, other states and jurisdictions have joined in the Powerball® group. To keep up with the growth spurt in Powerball®, several changes will occur after the schedule nightly drawing on August 27.

One of the most exciting changes will be in the amount of the starting jackpot, which will jump from the current $10 million to $15 million! Jackpots will grow faster increasing by a minimum of $5 million per draw. The annuity option will also be changed so that players will receive an annual payment that increases each year. Players can also elect the jackpot’s one time lump-sum option.

Another added feature to the game will be to double the second prize for matching five white ball numbers, from $100,000 to $200,000 cash! With the purchase of the PowerPlay® option, players will have the opportunity to multiply their winnings by up to five to win up to $1 million!

Also, Powerball® players who match four white ball numbers plus the red Powerball® number will double their prize from $5,000 to $10,000! With the purchase of the PowerPlay® option, players will have the opportunity to multiply their winnings by up to five to win up to $50,000!

In South Carolina, SCEL players will now be able to advance play their numbers from the current 10 advance draws to 20 advance draws.
