1/3/2002 11:00:00 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (January 4, 2002) – After beginning the first leg of its South Carolina tour this past Wednesday morning, the Lottery Express returned to Columbia due to inclement weather. The tour, however, has been rescheduled, and will now begin on Tuesday, January 8, the day after the lottery games are launched throughout the state.

Organizers hope the Lottery Express Tour will continue to generate the excitement and enthusiasm that launch day produces around the state.

The Lottery Express, a 2002 Ford Excursion, will still make its way through South Carolina cities and towns, while its passengers stop to answer questions and distribute giveaways at a variety of locations, including local newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, lottery retailers, city parks, lottery redemption centers and other centers of activity. South Carolina Education Lottery Commissioners and senior staff will be among those on board.

The Lottery Express Tour will depart at 7:30 a.m. on January 8 in Columbia at lottery headquarters, 1333 Main Street, and then continue where it left off in Lancaster, South Carolina, arriving at 8:30 a.m. It will then continue through Rock Hill, Union and Spartanburg on the same day.

Wednesday’s focus will be on the Upstate and the Old 96 District, as the Lottery Express visits towns such as Greenville, Easley, Pickens, Greenwood, Abbeville, Anderson, Laurens and Newberry.

On Thursday, January 10, the Lottery Express can be found in several regions of the state. The Express begins the day in Aiken, makes a side trip to Augusta and then progresses southeast towards Barnwell, Bamberg, Orangeburg, Ridgeland and finally Savannah.

South Carolinians residing in the Lowcountry will encounter the Lottery Express as it makes its way through Hilton Head, Beaufort, Walterboro and Charleston on Friday, January 11.

The final day of the tour, Saturday, January 12, the Lottery Express will travel through Santee Cooper Country, the Pee Dee region, and the Grand Strand with visits in Moncks Corner, Georgetown, Conway, Kingstree and Lake City.
