COLUMBIA, SC (June 6, 2024) – A Midlands woman was taking her dog to the vet, when she stopped to play the Lottery and nearly needed medical attention herself. She won $200,000.
“I almost passed out,” she said.
The winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she was early for the appointment, so she decided to run into the Food Lion on N. Guignard Dr. in Sumter for a ticket. She scratched the $5 MONOPOLYTM card in the store and the six-figure payday left her stunned.
She went on to the vet and then to Columbia to cash in the big win. Today she is debt free.
“This is the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time,” she told lottery officials.
The odds of winning $200,000 in the MONOPOLYTM game are 1 in 720,000. No more top prizes remain in the game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Food Lion #179 in Sumter received a commission of $2,000.
