COLUMBIA, SC (October 30, 2017) – With Halloween a day away, a Hemingway woman described what it’s like to win the Lottery in ghostly detail.
She says it felt like an out-of-body experience.
“I was in a trance,” she said of her frightfully good luck having scratched off a $125,000 win inside Betty’s Quick Stop on N. Main St. in Hemingway.
She says she froze in place, mesmerized by the winning Red Hot Cash ticket in her hand. She couldn’t speak. When her senses returned, she looked around to make sure no one was staring and floated out of the store.
“I got home and prayed and relaxed,” she told lottery officials while awaiting a check for her winnings.
As for her plans for the cash, she’s keeping that a mystery.
Now that the prize is paid, Betty’s Quick Stop in Hemingway receives a $1,250 commission.
The Hemingway winner claimed the last top prize of $125,000 in the $5 Red Hot Cash game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.
