COLUMBIA, SC (July 18, 2025) – Thirsty, an Upstate man stopped in a convenience store to get something to drink and got a lottery ticket too. He quenched his thirst and won $500,000.
“It was surreal,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “It was a spur of the moment decision to play.”
He picked out a $10 Money Madness Extra Play ticket the Countryside Easy Mart on Crossroads Dr. in Seneca. He scratched it to win the half-a-million dollar prize.
The Lottery caught up with the winner after cashing in the winning ticket.
“I’m still working and doing what I normally would,” he said. “I’ve been able to help some people.”
Odds of winning $500,000 in the Money Madness Extra Play game are 1 in 1,152,000. One top prizes remain in the game.
Countryside Easy Mart LLC in Seneca received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
