COLUMBIA, SC (December 6, 2017) – Twenty-year-old Zach Maldonado turned a $100 bonus he earned for a job well done into a quarter-of-a-million dollar payday.
The Canon, GA, resident was working in the Upstate, where he spent $20 of his bonus on two South Carolina Education Lottery tickets.
He says the first ticket he scratched was a dud, but the second one was a life changer.
“My heart was racing and I was shaking,” said Maldonado, describing the moment he won $250,000 on the Big Money scratch-off at the 7-Eleven on Hwy 187 in Anderson.
He plans to grow his winnings even further.
“I’m going to invest the money,” he said.
Three top prizes of $250,000 remain in the $10 Big Money game, at odds of 1 in 660,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, 7-Eleven #36853H in Anderson received a commission of $2,500.
