COLUMBIA, SC (August 3, 2017) – A Hemingway family headed to the mountains on vacation detoured through Columbia after the husband won $125,000 on a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket.
The husband stopped to use the restroom at Ken’s Corner 2 on E. Palmetto St. in Florence and bought a $5 Queen of Green lottery ticket.
When he got back in the car and told his wife he’d won and they were headed to Columbia to cash in the ticket, her mouth dropped open.
“We’re getting a pool,” she said. “I’ve always wanted one.”
Now that the prize is paid, Ken’s Corner in Florence receives a $1,250 commission.
One top prize of $125,000 remains in the $5 Queen of Green game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.
