Columbia Woman Cleaning Out Purse Finds $150,000 Lottery Ticket

COLUMBIA, SC (April 4, 2016) – A Columbia woman found more than spare change in the bottom of her purse. While cleaning out her handbag, she stumbled upon a two month old Powerball® ticket worth $150,000.

She had forgotten about the ticket until last week when she switched from a black to a navy bag.

“I was shaking,” she said after checking the numbers on the ticket for the February 6 drawing.

The red Powerball® number and four out of the five white ball numbers matched (4, 13, 31, 36, 52 and PB: 8). Spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay® tripled her $50,000 prize to $150,000.

“Ahhhhhhhhh!,” she said clutching her purse, relieved she found the winning ticket in time.

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 3X multiplier being selected are 1 in 3.31.

For selling the claimed ticket, the Pantry Express #620 in Elgin received a commission of $1,500.

The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night’s Powerball® drawing is $148 million.
