COLUMBIA, SC (October 10, 2014) – An Aiken woman prayed she’d win the Lottery, and her prayers were answered the next day.
Would you believe she won $100,000 off a losing lottery ticket?
How? A $5 ticket she bought and didn’t win on, but entered online in the Guy Harvey Second-Chance Promotion was drawn on Thursday from approximately 100,000 entries received to win her the $100,000 grand prize.
“I can’t believe this,” she said.
When the Lottery called to tell her she won in the promotions final drawing, she screamed, “I’m on my way!”
Her husband drove her to Columbia to collect her winnings, while she sat shaking in the passenger seat praying the news was true.
Her plans for the winnings aren’t surprising.
“I’m donating some to the church,” she said.
The ticket launched July 16, 2013. Over the course of the promotion there were 500 winners who entered non-winning tickets. Marine Conservationist Guy Harvey donated his licensing proceeds to state conservation groups. Players have until Tuesday, November 18, 2014, to claim any remaining winning tickets.
