COLUMBIA, SC (February 9, 2012) – For fun, a family vacationing in Myrtle Beach bought some lottery tickets to scratch in the car. A few were winners.
Instead of driving off, the father and his son went inside the Scotchman #233 in Myrtle Beach to thank the clerk that sold them the tickets. They were grateful for the one worth $100,000. The rest of the winnings totaled $45.
“I was more excited than they were,” said the clerk.
The winner’s wife was pleased too.
“She wants a new car,” the winner said.
As of this release, four top prizes of $100,000 remains in the $5 Triple the Money game.
The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 432,000.
Scotchman #223 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
