COLUMBIA, SC (January 24, 2011) – Do you like oysters? How about the opportunity to eat 65,000 pounds worth of fresh oysters while lounging on the back lawn at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, SC with 10,000 of your friends? Why not throw in a chance to win a prize from the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL)? Sounds like a fun time doesn’t it? Well, you have a chance to make it happen.
The Lottery is once again a sponsor for the 28th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival on Sunday, January 30th, at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant. During the festival, the Lottery’s prize wheel will be spinning at the SCEL Ticket Booth! From 10:30 a.m. till 5 p.m., the Lottery will be selling tickets and for every $10 in lottery products purchased, players will be able to spin the prize wheel for the chance to win lottery items such as lunch bags, camo hats, T-shirts and tumblers. The festival is “rain or shine,” so you’ll be sure to have a chance to spin the prize wheel no matter what Mother Nature decides to do. Bring your glove and oyster knife and come ready to shuck and spin.
Festival tickets are $12 in advance or can be purchased at the gate for $15. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with accompanying adults. Tickets can be purchased at the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association website at http://www.charlestonrestaurantassociation.com/oyster_festival.php. Boone Hall Plantation is located at 1235 Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant. This event has been named one of the Top 20 Tourist Attractions by the Southeast Tourist Society. We look forward to seeing you there!
Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
