Three winning S.C. tickets – in Greenville, Horry and York counties – matched five of the numbers in Wednesday’s drawing
Columbia, S.C. (December 2, 2004): The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) Powerball drawing on Wednesday had three “match 5” winners of $100,000, including one with Powerplay for an additional $300,000.
There were no big winners in the Powerball multi-state drawing, pushing Saturday’s jackpot to an estimated $145 million. The Powerball numbers for the Wednesday drawing were 3, 28, 36, 38 and 44. The Powerball number was 1 and the Powerplay number was 4.
Three South Carolina retailers sold winning “match 5” tickets worth $100,000 each. Additionally, one of tickets sold had purchased the $1 Powerplay multiplier option and matched the Powerplay number, making it worth $400,000.
The three retailers are:
• Cigarettes Cheaper! in Little River
• Red Rockets Fireworks, Inc. in Fort Mill
• Tony’s Liquor Store, in Greenville, which had the Powerplay winner
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday is an estimated $145 million dollars. Due to the large jackpot and anticipated increase in sales for the drawing, SCEL officials ask players to purchase early and avoid the last minute rush. The lottery also reminds players to play responsibly.
