SCEL AWARDS FINAL HARLEY-DAVIDSON® MOTORYCLE!

3/30/2004 11:00:00 PM

Columbia, SC: Louis Latten of Rocky Mount, North Carolina is the proud new owner of a 100th Anniversary Harley-Davidson® Sportster®1200 Custom™ motorcycle. Latten was selected in the Harley-Davidson® Bonus Drawing held on March 29, 2004 at the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) draw studio in Columbia.

Latten mailed in between 15-20 entries for the drawing, four of the entries arriving just in time. Tickets had to be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2004 to be eligible for the drawing. The selected entry was postmarked March 12, 2004, barely making the entry deadline.

“Every time I come to South Carolina, I buy a couple of scratch-off tickets. I usually win a couple of dollars,” shared Latten. “The eye-catching bike on the Harley ticket stood out from the others.”

Latten has previously ridden motorcycles, but he has never owned a Harley-Davidson®. “It’s absolutely fantastic. I could hardly sleep last night. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a dream,” he said.

More than 38,500 entries were received for the bonus drawing. To enter, players completed the information on the back of a non-winning Harley-Davidson® instant ticket and mailed it to the SCEL.

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $502 million to the State’s Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation. The SCEL’s net proceeds pay for specific educational programs, including South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows Scholarships; the National Guard Scholarship Program; Lottery Tuition Assistance for two-year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses; local libraries and gambling addiction services.
