Columbia, SC: Next Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot will be the 10th largest ever in the history of America’s favorite game. Since no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing, the jackpot will grow to an estimated $171 million. The cash option for the Wednesday, December 8 drawing will be an estimated $93.3 million.
One ticket sold in South Carolina did match five numbers in Saturday’s drawing, winning $100,000. The ticket was sold in Fort Mill. No one has claimed the ticket. The numbers drawn were: 6, 9, 16, 22, 30 and the Powerball was 4. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
With the Powerball jackpot reaching record levels, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) encourages players to play responsibly.
“This time of year, families need to focus on their needs,” says Ernie Passailaigue, Executive Director of SCEL. “We always encourage players to use discretionary money when playing the lottery. If you have bills to pay, pay them first.”
Powerball is now played in 27 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Since January 2002, SCEL has transferred more than $684 million to the State Education Lottery Account for distribution according to South Carolina Legislation.
