COLUMBIA, SC (February 9, 2024) – A Midlands man’s second choice won him $300,000.
At the Corner Stop #118 on S. Guignard Dr. in Sumter he picked out a lottery ticket. His first choice didn’t win anything, so he decided to try a different ticket. His pivot proved lucky.
“It surprised me,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, who caught up with him after cashing in the winning ticket.
His first move as a winner: “I paid off my house,” he said.
The win leaves one top prize of $300,000 in Max Money game at odds of 1 in 936,000.
Corner Stop #118 in Sumter received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
