A lottery ticket he scratched inside the E Z Trip at 1400 Hwy. 72 W. in Greenwood, looked at, scanned on the store’s ticket checker and then took to the counter and showed the clerk could not have won him $300,000. But it did.
In disbelief, he took the ticket home and waited for his wife.
When she came through the door he told her that he won $100,000, a fib.
“Later I told her I won $300,000. I didn’t want to shock her,” he explained. “I like to joke with her.”
The couple bought a new car with their winnings.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 780,000 to leave one top prize of $300,000 remaining in the ($10) Go Green game.
E Z Trip in Greenwood received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
