COLUMBIA, SC (October 23, 2019) – An Aiken man didn’t mind working the weekend knowing he had a $250,000 payday waiting for him on Monday.
Monday morning, he drove to Columbia to collect a quarter-of-a-million dollars he won playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.
“It’s exciting and life changing,” he told lottery officials.
He won the prize money on a scratch-off he bought at the Kangaroo Express #3252 on E. Pine Log Rd. in Aiken on his way to work Saturday morning.
He called his wife when it happened, and she cried. But the winner says he tried to stay calm.
“I had to go to work,” he explained.
Two top prizes of $250,000 remain in the $10 Maximum Money game, at odds of 1 in 780,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Kangaroo Express #3252 in Aiken received a commission of $2,500.
