COLUMBIA, SC (October 30, 2018) – After cashing in a winning lottery ticket this week, a Greenwood man went home to take a nap.
Winning $250,000 is exhausting.
“Are my eyes red?” he asked lottery officials when he turned in his winning ticket. “I’ve only had two hours of sleep.”
He says he spent a sleepless night with his top prize winning Emerald Green 10s scratch-off folded by his side, and throughout the night he unfolded the ticket to make sure he really won.
“I’ve never seen that amount of money in my life,” he said.
After he rests up, the winner says he plans to start looking for a new house.
“I still don’t believe it,” he said.
The Greenwood player won on the $10 Emerald Green 10s game. Two top prizes of $250,000 remain in the game at odds of 1 in 660,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Pantry in Greenwood received a commission of $2,500.
