COLUMBIA, SC (January 29, 2016) – A Columbia man says a $100,000 lottery win has given him a fresh start.

He was looking at houses before buying a $5 ticket at the Corner Pantry #110 on Clemson Rd. in Columbia.

After the purchase, “I was screaming,” he said.

His mom, with tears in her eyes, sat with her son awaiting the check.

“I have an opportunity to better my life,” the new homeowner said.

“He deserves it,” said Mom.

He claimed the last top prize of $100,000 in the $5 Carolina Riches game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Corner Pantry #110 in Columbia received a commission of $1,000.
