Lugoff Family Looking for a Bigger Home after $1 Million Lottery Win

COLUMBIA, SC (August 24, 2017) – A Lugoff couple is going house hunting with a $1 million South Carolina Education Lottery win.

“We need a bigger house,” said the mother of four.

It was the husband who bought the winning $10 Platinum Millionaire ticket at White Pond Food N Beverage on White Pond Rd. in Elgin. This is the store’s second $1 million scratch-off win, the first was in 2009.

The husband told lottery officials he got home with the ticket and went to cut the grass. When he was done in the yard, he came in, showered and sat on the couch to scratch off the ticket.

But he didn’t stay seated for long.

“I ran outside and yelled to my wife to get in the house,” he said.

He told her they won $1 million.

The couple is thrilled and looking forward to a larger home where the kids can have their own bedrooms.

“I don’t want the house to be too big,” said the wife. “I don’t want to be cleaning all the time.”

One $1 million top prize remains in the Platinum Millionaire game with odds of 1 in 1.6 million.

White Pond Food N Beverage won too. The retailer received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Players can enter non-winning Platinum Millionaire tickets into a final drawing to award an additional $1 million prize. The draw date has yet to be announced. For updates and details, visit sceducationlottery.com.
