COLUMBIA, SC (September 22, 2015) – For a mother and daughter in Mount Pleasant, luck must run in the family.
First the daughter wins $100,000 and then last week the mother wins $1 million.
"I'm going to win next," joked the millionaire's husband.
Unlike her daughter, who won on a $5 scratch-off, Mom won with a non-winning ticket she entered in the Million Dollar Series Second-Chance Promotion. Her ticket was selected from the more than 650,000 entries received to win the $1 million grand prize.
She found out she won in an email on Wednesday morning.
After waking up her husband to tell him, she called their daughter.
"I was happy for her when she won, and with her decision to go back to school to be a nurse, so I knew she would be happy for me too," the mother said.
So the family found themselves back at the Lottery's Claims Center, this time with $1 million waiting.
"It's great to be back," the husband said.
