COLUMBIA, SC (June 8, 2016) – Seeing a customer at Betty’s Quick Stop on N. Main St. in Hemingway buy a lottery ticket and win $500 was all the motivation a Conway woman needed to try her own luck.
She asked for the same ticket and won $250,000.
“I screamed,” she said. “I called my momma.”
Her parents, who live in Hemingway, rushed to the store to see their daughter’s top prize winning Quarter Million Dollar Cashfall scratch-off. They drove her to Columbia yesterday to cash in the ticket.
“I couldn’t ask for better parents,” the winner said.
On the car ride the family discussed options for the prize money. A new place to live tops the winner’s wish list. And she’s going to help her mom too.
As of this release, one top prize of $250,000 remains in the $10 Quarter Million Dollar Cashfall game. The odds of winning $250,000 are 1 in 696,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Betty’s Quick Stop in Hemingway received a commission of $2,500.
Back at the store, what did the $500 winner think of the Conway woman’s even bigger win?
“She was shocked,” said the quarter-million-dollar winner. “She told me to put the ticket in my shoe and get out of here.”
