$2 Million Powerball® Winner, “This is my lucky day!”

COLUMBIA, SC (October 14, 2014) – What does a millionaire do the day after he wins the Lottery?

He goes in to work.

That’s the plan for a Myrtle Beach man who won a $2 million Powerball® prize.

He also pays off his house, sets up college savings funds for his kids, and sits down with a tax professional. But those are tomorrow’s worries.

“This is my lucky day!” the winner said.

For years he’s kidded his wife, telling her that he won the Lottery, but last Thursday he wasn’t joking. His Powerball® quick pick of the numbers 5, 16, 31, 46, and 50 were all a match for Wednesday night’s drawing. Had the Powerball number “18” matched, the jackpot would have been his.

“Wow,” was his reaction.

Since he spent the extra $1 for PowerPlay®, his $1 million win was doubled to $2 million.

When asked if he felt like a millionaire, he smiled and said “Yeah. I do.”

Kangaroo Express #479 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

The odds of matching five white ball numbers are 1 in 5,153,633. The odds of a 2X multiplier are 1 in 2.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
