COLUMBIA, SC (June 17, 2014) – How does it feel to win the Lottery? A Barnwell winner’s response was one the Lottery hadn’t heard.

“It felt like the night before I got married,” the winner said.

Flattered by his words, the winner’s wife shared the couple was watching television last night when she looked over and saw tears running down her husband’s face. Worried she asked what was wrong.

“Honey, we won $200,000 in the Lottery,” he said.

He’d spent the day trying to figure out if his Stacks of Cash ticket was a winner or an aberration. He called the Lottery for help and had a retailer scan the ticket, but he still couldn’t believe it and didn’t know how he was going to tell his family.

“Winning was an emotion I’ve only felt only that one other time,” he said looking over at his wife seated next to him at the Lottery’s Claims Center in Columbia.

“For us, this is security,” his wife said when her husband’s name was called to accept his winnings.

His eyes filled with tears when he showed her the check.

“If I cry, it’s not that I’m sad,” he said.

One top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 Stacks of Cash game. Odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 600,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Rainbow Gas Garden #17 in Barnwell received a commission of $2,000.
