COLUMBIA, SC (April 15, 2014) – David Long of Charleston brought home a souvenir t-shirt from this weekend’s race at Darlington.
“It says Darlington with the date to remember it,” Long said.
He won the trip and the t-shirt from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
A race fan, Long played the $5 FAN-tastic! game showcasing the track that’s “Too Tough to Tame.” He entered his non-winning tickets in a second-chance drawing and from more than 87,000 entries won one of four special insider trips to Darlington valued at over $28,000.
Besides tickets to the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races and the Richard Petty Driving Experience, he was given VIP passes for a special insider look at Darlington and a stay in his own personal RV for the weekend. His brother-in-law, niece and her husband tagged along, all outfitted by the Lottery in matching racing jackets and hats.
“It was my first time at an actual race,” Long said. “It was nice and loud.”
Long was one of four South Carolina Education Lottery winners selected to win a trip to Darlington for this year’s Southern 500. Two other lucky players won trip to Daytona.
A final $100,000 winner will be announced on Wednesday, April 30. Enter non-winning FAN-tastic! tickets online or by mail by Wednesday, April 23, to be eligible.
