COLUMBIA, SC (November 3, 2015) – A West Columbia woman won $200,000 from the South Carolina Education Lottery, and she picked the winning numbers herself.

Well, she had a little help from her son.

He was on the phone with his mom inside the Pitt Stop #12 on Knox Abbot Dr. in Cayce when she asked him to buy her a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket. She gave him the numbers to play.

1, 2, 5, 8 and 9, a combination reflecting the months her brothers and sisters were born, won her the top prize last Wednesday.

“She had a look on her face that I’d never seen before,” said the son after his mom checked her ticket.

And she was all smiles when she cashed in the winning ticket last week.

“I’m buying a spanking new car,” she said.

Because she Powered-Up for an extra $1, her $100,000 win doubled to $200,000 with the selection of a “2” multiplier.

Odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, Pitt Stop #12 in Cayce received a commission of $2,000.
