COLUMBIA, SC (December 18, 2013) – A retired Columbia woman bought a lottery ticket solely because the woman in line in front of her did.
The copycat won $200,000 on her scratch-off, enough to pay off her house and spoil her grandbaby with gifts this Christmas.
If any is left over, she’s buying a new car.
“I don’t usually play,” she confessed to lottery officials, but seeing someone else take a chance was all the encouragement she needed.
As of this release, three top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Superstar Cash game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Columbia Travel Center received a commission of $2,000.
