COLUMBIA, SC (May 8, 2013) – Spartanburg is home to the South Carolina Education Lottery’s first Carolina Cash 6 $200,000 TAXES PAID winner.

“I feel great,” the winner told lottery officials enjoying the distinction of being the first.

He says bought a ticket for the first Carolina Cash 6 drawing on April 4 and six drawings and tickets later owned the top prize. A six-number game, Carolina Cash 6’s top prize has Federal and state taxes withheld to net $200,000.

“I kept playing it because you get three sets of numbers for $2,” he explained.

On Monday, April 22, his numbers – 1, 3, 12, 17, 30, and 32 – matched those drawn to win the $200,000 TAXES PAID.

He says he’ll keep playing Carolina Cash 6.

“I’ll find my luck again somewhere down the line,” he promised.

Odds of winning the $200,000 TAXES PAID top prize are 1 in 920,227.

Money Tree Check Cashing in Spartanburg received a commission of $2,941.43 for selling the claimed ticket.

Carolina Cash 6 drawings are Mondays and Thursdays at 6:59 p.m.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
